South London singer-songwriter Lola Young released her debut single, 6 Feet Under this week, with the new video (directed by Rianne White) debuting across various streaming services.
The self-penned song is an atmospheric opener – with BBC1Xtra already adding it to their playlists – and with a series of intimate live shows planned to take place in London pre-Christmas, interest in her music is growing.

2020 promises to be a breakthrough year for the artist, who signed for Island records following her studies at the Brit School in Croydon.
As a passionate advocate of discussing the importance of mental health issues, her jarringly honest 6 Feet Under questions a relationship from every angle, from someone young and in love, but admitting that ‘there’s so much room for the doubt’. “It’s about that mental feeling of being stuck in a time and place while the world continues to turn,” Lola said. “Life goes on, regardless of the way you feel about it.”
We’re excited to hear what else she has to say in the months ahead, but for now enjoy 6 Feet Under, and look out for more details on her live shows shortly. Lola Young is one to watch.
